The Secretariat of State for Vocational Training and Employment Policy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste has been implementing a seasonal work program under Australia’s Pacific Seasonal Worker Pilot Scheme (PSWPS) through a Memorandum of Understanding established in December 2011 with the Government of Australia.
This Memorandum of Understanding ensures the cooperation between the two Government in recruiting, preparing and sending Timorese workers to Australia to work in specific areas, such as tourism and agriculture, with the main objectives to increase remittance incomes and transfer of skills and knowledge to Timorese workers and, subsequently, contributing to economic development in Timor Leste.
