1. Tell us a bit about yourself – your name, job position, where you were born, where you live, your qualification and experience.

My name is Nensia Madeira Ku. Currently I am a Teacher Assistant at SenaiNT ELC. I was born in Dili and I live in Dili, Bairro-Pite. I have just finished my Batchelor degree last year, and this is my first teaching position since graduation.

2. What do you teach?

As a Teacher Assistant, I am supporting the classroom teacher with preparing and leading some activities such as ESL games, small group work and one-on-one tutoring, preparing classroom resources and wall displays, collating weekly attendance data and also supporting sister school activities.

3. Why did you choose teaching as a profession?

I chose this profession because I love teaching and also because I want to help those Timorese people who are interested in learning English.

4. What is your most memorable teaching moment at SenaiNT?

My most memorable teaching moment at SenaiNT was when I helped a student to catch up on some missed work and was very happy that she was now able to join the main group with the class work.

5. What has been the most rewarding part of your job whilst at SenaiNT?

The most rewarding part of my work at SenaiNT is when I am able to help those students who are having difficulty with their work to finally understand what they are learning.

6. What are your hobbies/interests outside of teaching?

My hobbies are travelling, shopping, listening to Music, watching movies, exercising and swimming.

7. What is one piece of advice you would give to students who are considering studying at the Centre?

My advice to students who are considering studying the Centre is to take the opportunity because the program at the centre will really help you to learn English.

8. Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

In five years’ time, I see myself working full-time as a teacher and a have an on-line fashion business.
